Baldwin & Shell Construction Company is looking for a Carpenter who will thrive in our company.

The Carpenter is responsible for installation and assembly of doors, frames, hardware, and bathroom accessories while enduring safety, functionality and compliance with building codes. 

The Carpenter reports directly to the Assistant Superintendent or Superintendent.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Install architectural-grade doors, frames, hardware, toilet partitions and accessories per drawing and ADA standards.
  • Inspect and replace damaged framework or other structures and fixtures.
  • Read blueprints, drawings, and sketches to fully grasp requirements.
  • Construct and install building frameworks; including walls, floors, and doorframes.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • At least three (3) years of carpentry, construction, and hardware experience.
  • Ability to work independently and complete installs with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics. 
  • Physical ability to lift and carry heavy materials, kneel, bend, and work in varied jobsite conditions. 
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, trouble shooting skills, attention to detail, and communication skills.
  • Ability to take accurate measurements using and reading tape measures.
  • Ability to operate tools, machines, and other equipment safely.
  • Valid drivers license to travel to jobsites.
  • Must be able to pass a background check and pre-employment drug test.
  • Pursuant to the Arkansas Medical Marijuana Act 593, this position is a designated safety-sensitive position according to Baldwin & Shell standards and processes.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency with hand and power tools, including drills, levels, saws, and various fastening systems. 
  • Experience with commercial door systems, restroom partitions, accessories, and basic carpentry skills. 
  • Ability to measure, mark, drill, cut, and secure materials neatly and correctly. 


Work Environment

  • Onsite in various environments, including commercial buildings, healthcare facilities, schools, and public restrooms. It requires manual labor and occasional heavy lifting, as well as adherence to strict safety and quality standards.
