Job Title: Accessioner I
Location: Dublin, OH
Duration: 3 Months
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 11:30pm to 8:00am, Rotating weekends and holidays
15% Shift Differential is applicable

Summary:
The main function of an accessioner is responsible for processing laboratory samples.
They work with other laboratory employees to catalog patient specimens, like blood, urine, or tissue, for analysis.
They mostly work with blood.
Lab professionals carry out diagnosis and treatment based on the samples received.

Day to Day Responsibilities of this Position and Description of Project/Assignment? -

• Operate automated instrumentation under supervision if necessary
• Introduce and prepare biological specimens to the laboratory to ensure accurate processing
• Open specimens and pour off into secondary containers to prepare for analysis and testing
• Verify patient demographic information matches the test requisition form submitted
• Data entry of patient information into the computer system for tracking purposes
• Meet key production metrics and quality measures to ensure timely and accurate results
• Unpack and route specimens to their respective staging areas
• Pack and ship specimens to proper testing facilities when required
• Properly prepare and store excess specimen samples
• Resolve and document any problem specimens
• Handle and dispose of medical and chemical waste
• Comply with applicable environmental health and safety policies and procedures

Qualifications:
0-2 years of work experience.
AS or BS degree in biological sciences preferred. Proven attention to accuracy and deadlines. Proven ability to work well independently and within a team.
