Computed Tomography (CT) Technologist - Day Shift - 12 x 3 Job Description

The CT Technologist independently performs imaging procedures, demonstrating competence in a variety of technical processes that require independent judgment and ingenuity. This position involves applying prescribed ionizing radiation for diagnostic purposes, adhering to established scan protocols, and administering contrast media as needed.

Responsibilities
  • Independently perform computed tomography procedures utilizing established scan protocols, including contrast administration.
  • Adjust protocols as necessary, demonstrating independent judgment and initiative in the application of prescribed ionizing radiation for diagnostic purposes.
  • Utilize complex imaging equipment for the acquisition, analysis, reconstruction, and documentation of image data according to protocol.
  • Demonstrate proper technique in venipuncture and the use of power injectors according to departmental and manufacturer protocols.
  • Administer PO, rectal, and IV contrast per physician orders and departmental policy, assessing patients for potential risk factors before administration.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and co-workers, ensuring a supportive and respectful interaction.
  • Identify patients accurately using two patient identifiers and utilize universal protocols when performing procedures.
  • Review patient history and assess physician orders, applying specific departmental protocols to optimize data acquisition.
  • Document patient history in the electronic record as required.
  • Ensure all exams are properly coded, tracked, and networked for archiving and interpretation, and that all charges are entered accurately.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
  • Graduate of an ARRT approved school of Radiologic Technology or completion of an accredited CNMT program.
  • CT registry must be acquired within 18 months of the date the primary registry was obtained or date of hire if already obtained.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience is required.
  • Licensure and certifications: ARRT Certificate, Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification (NMTC), Basic Life Support (BLS), and applicable PA Acts (31, 33, 34, 73).
Schedule

This position operates on a Day Shift schedule, working 12-hour shifts over 3 days per week.
