Schedule: Part-Time, 24 hours/week
Shift: Days (No Weekends or Holidays)
Mercy Hospital Washington is seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Cardiovascular Pre-Op team. In this role, you will prepare surgical patients for procedures, ensure all required documentation and testing are complete, provide patient education and emotional support, and collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and the perioperative team to deliver exceptional patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Review patient records to ensure pre-operative readiness.
- Verify completion of H&Ps, consents, laboratory testing, EKGs, and other required documentation.
- Assess and document patients' physical, emotional, and clinical needs.
- Complete nursing documentation in Epic, including assessments, medications, allergies, vital signs, and pre-op checklists.
- Initiate and maintain IV access and administer medications according to policy.
- Provide pre-operative education and emotional support to patients and families.
- Communicate patient needs, delays, and schedule changes with the surgical team and family members.
- Ensure patient safety through verification processes and adherence to infection prevention standards.
- Support efficient patient flow and maintain a well-organized clinical environment.
Required
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
- Current RN license in the state of practice.
- Current CPR certification.
- Strong communication, organizational, and patient care skills.
Preferred
- 1-2 years of hospital or medical-surgical nursing experience.
- Cardiac Telemetry or Critical Care experience is a plus
- ACLS certification.
- Prior perioperative or pre-operative nursing experience.
