A growing Dallas-Fort Worth commercial construction company is seeking a Junior Estimator / Junior Project Manager to join its team. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career construction professional who has estimating experience and is ready to expand into project management.
The company specializes primarily in commercial interior construction, tenant improvements, renovations, and finish-out projects, coordinating multiple trades from preconstruction through project completion.
General Contractor experience is not required. Candidates coming from a commercial subcontractor or specialty trade will be considered. Experience estimating concrete, drywall, framing, landscaping, or other construction scopes can translate well into this position.
Responsibilities
- Review construction drawings, specifications, and bid documents to determine project scope.
- Perform quantity takeoffs and prepare estimates for commercial construction projects.
- Solicit and review subcontractor and vendor pricing.
- Assist with developing project budgets, proposals, and bid packages.
- Review and compare subcontractor bids for scope coverage and pricing.
- Work with subcontractors, vendors, field personnel, and clients throughout the project lifecycle.
- Assist with project scheduling, procurement, material coordination, and cost tracking.
- Support change orders and project documentation.
- Help identify potential scope gaps, cost issues, and constructability concerns during estimating and project execution.
- Transition awarded projects from estimating into project management and assist with projects through completion.
- Develop broader knowledge of commercial interior construction, including drywall, framing, finishes, and related trades.
Qualifications
- Approximately 1–3+ years of construction estimating, project coordination, Assistant PM, or related construction experience preferred.
- Previous estimating experience within a commercial construction trade such as concrete, drywall, framing, landscaping, interiors, or other specialty construction will be considered.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Understanding of construction takeoffs, quantities, materials, and pricing.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Comfortable working with subcontractors, vendors, and field personnel.
- Basic computer skills; experience with estimating, construction management, or takeoff software is a plus.
- Motivated to learn additional construction scopes and develop into a well-rounded Project Manager.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
Compensation
- $70,000–$75,000 base salary, depending on experience
