The Radiologic Technologist will perform high-quality general diagnostic radiographic examinations in a large hospital environment. This role requires strong experience with portable X-ray imaging, which will be a primary responsibility of the position. The technologist will ensure accurate imaging, patient safety, proper documentation, and timely transmission of images to PACS.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform general diagnostic radiology examinations according to departmental protocols and procedures.
- Perform portable radiographic exams as a primary job responsibility.
- Produce high-quality diagnostic images and ensure proper image positioning and orientation.
- Verify patient identity, demographics, examination orders, and relevant clinical history.
- Assess patient condition and determine appropriate actions for safe imaging procedures.
- Verify pregnancy status before administering ionizing radiation when applicable.
- Explain procedures and provide appropriate patient care throughout the examination.
- Apply radiation safety practices and maintain a safe work environment.
- Review, critique, orient, and save all pertinent images.
- Perform image quality control and transmit completed images to PACS.
- Ensure all images and examination information are accurately documented in RIS.
- Utilize RIS, CIS, PACS, and HIS systems to access patient information and document procedure status.
- Review daily schedules and manage patient workflow efficiently.
- Troubleshoot basic equipment and protocol-related issues and report equipment concerns appropriately.
- Respond appropriately to emergency situations and ensure patient safety.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Document incidents and communicate improvement opportunities to department leadership.
- Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Sciences Program or hold an accredited Associate's Degree in Radiologic Technology.
- ARRT certification in Radiography (RT(R)) required.
- Must maintain active ARRT registry status and annual continuing education requirements.
- BLS for Healthcare Providers required.
- Strong competency in portable radiography is required.
- Large hospital experience is strongly preferred, with portable imaging experience clearly demonstrated in the candidate's skills and work history.
