TrueHeritage Staffing is seeking a Tax Senior Associate for a well-established firm in the Tampa, FL area.

Position Overview

In this role, you will lead the preparation and review of complex tax returns for a diverse client base—including individuals, fiduciaries, partnerships, closely held corporations, estates, and gifts, ensuring full compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations. You will also conduct and review in-depth tax research to identify planning opportunities, optimize client tax positions, and analyze the tax implications of transactions. Additionally, you will prepare for and participate in client meetings to discuss compliance matters, consulting projects, and strategic tax planning recommendations.

The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise in tax compliance and preparation, exceptional analytical capabilities, and the ability to manage multiple engagements concurrently. A commitment to high-quality service, accuracy, and meeting deadlines is essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review a wide range of tax returns—including individual (Form 1040), corporate (Forms 1120 and 1120-S), partnership (Form 1065), fiduciary, ASC 706 income tax provisions, and tax-exempt organization filings (Form 990)—ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with all federal, state, and local tax regulations.
  • Conduct in-depth technical tax research and support various tax consulting projects, including federal tax planning, by analyzing complex client situations and providing well-supported written recommendations.
  • Assist with tax audits by preparing required documentation, responding to inquiries from tax authorities, and guiding clients through issue resolution.
  • Provide proactive tax planning and advisory services designed to minimize tax liabilities, identify savings opportunities, and support clients in navigating evolving tax regulations.
  • Monitor changes in tax laws, advising clients and internal teams on implications and recommended strategies.
  • Engage closely with clients to understand their business and financial objectives, building strong, trust-based relationships and delivering high-quality service.
  • Collaborate with Partners, Managers, and cross-functional team members such as interns, to ensure coordinated, accurate, and timely delivery of client engagements.
  • Mentor and support junior staff by reviewing work, offering constructive feedback, and fostering their technical and professional development.

Qualifications

Required

  • 2-4 years’ experience providing tax planning services or preparing and reviewing client work papers and income tax returns
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or other business-related field
  • Preparation and review experience of federal tax returns for corporations, partnerships, individuals, and trusts
  • Experience reviewing trust documents
  • Excellent technology (i.e., Microsoft Excel and compliance software), research, and writing skills
  • One of the following active accreditations obtained, in process, or willing and able to obtain:
    • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
    • Licensed attorney

Preferred

  • Advanced degree such as MST, JD, or LLM
  • Previous Big 4 or public accounting firm experience
  • Strong communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Strong analytical and communication skills; and able to articulate conclusions, planning opportunities, and risks identified through research projects
  • Passion for leveraging technology and exploring new technology solutions
  • Experience with accounting for income taxes in accordance to ASC740
  • Experience with international taxation
  • Excellent research and writing skills
