Note: New York Bar admission and 2+ years of personal injury law experience are required. Training will be provided in nursing home litigation, making this a strong opportunity for an attorney with a solid personal injury foundation who is ready to deepen their expertise.

Job Description
- Manage plaintiff-side nursing home negligence and elder abuse cases from inception through resolution.
- Investigate claims involving falls, pressure injuries, fractures, infections, medication errors, malnutrition, dehydration, elopement, inadequate supervision, and other failures of care.
- Draft and review complaints, pleadings, discovery demands and responses, motions, affirmations, and other litigation documents.
- Conduct and defend depositions of clients, defendants, nursing home personnel, healthcare providers, and other witnesses.
- Review and analyze nursing home charts, hospital records, medical records, policies, procedures, and other evidence.
- Work with medical, nursing, and other experts to evaluate liability, causation, and damages.
- Develop case strategy and identify important liability and damages issues.
- Conduct legal research and prepare substantive motions and oppositions.
- Attend court conferences, hearings, mediations, settlement conferences, and other proceedings.
- Negotiate settlements with defense counsel and insurance representatives.
- Assist with trial preparation, including witnesses, experts, exhibits, medical evidence, and motions.
- Maintain regular communication with clients and their families throughout the litigation process.
- Work closely with paralegals and other members of the litigation team to keep cases organized and moving forward.
Qualifications
- Admission to the New York State Bar and in good standing.
- 2+ years of personal injury law experience.
- Plaintiff-side litigation experience strongly preferred.
- Nursing home negligence, elder abuse, medical malpractice, or complex personal injury experience is a plus.
- Familiarity with New York civil litigation practice and procedure.
- Strong legal research and writing skills.
- Deposition experience preferred.
- Ability to analyze medical records and understand complex liability and damages issues.
- Strong case-management, negotiation, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a litigation team.
- Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
