Purchasing Lead
Bidell Gas Compression Inc. – Weirton, WV
The Opportunity:
Bidell Gas Compression Inc. is seeking an experienced and driven person to lead a team of Buyers and Purchasers within our Procurement Dept. Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, the Purchasing Lead will provide day-to-day supervision, coordinate team priorities, oversee purchasing activities, and serve as a key liaison between suppliers and internal stakeholders.
This role is ideal for a proactive procurement leader who thrives in a fast-paced, project-driven environment and enjoys developing a team, coordinating workloads, driving continuous improvement, and ensuring purchasing excellence across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a team of Buyers and Purchasers to ensure materials, goods, and services are procured on time and within budget
- Assign and balance team workloads, establish priorities, monitor progress, and provide coverage to meet production and project requirements
- Coordinate closely with suppliers regarding order status, lead times, pricing, and delivery performance
- Monitor and evaluate supplier performance
- Collaborate with Operations, Fabrication, Parts & Service, and Management teams to support production schedules and project requirements
- Ensure discrepancies involving purchase orders, invoices, or deliveries are resolved in a timely and effective manner
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships through professional communication and effective negotiation
- Review and support improvements to purchasing systems, processes, controls, and inventory practices
- Preform regular team communications and participate in purchasing meetings, whiteboard meetings, and project reviews as required
- Support the Purchasing Manager with team planning, performance feedback, workload prioritization, and special initiatives
- Maintain accurate purchasing documentation and ensure compliance with company procedures and approval requirements
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Trade certification or Supply Chain Management education considered an asset
- 5+ years of purchasing, procurement, or supply chain experience preferred
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ERP/purchasing systems
- Experience in manufacturing, industrial, mechanical, or oil & gas environments strongly preferred
- Demonstrated experience leading, coaching, and developing Buyers, Purchasers, or other procurement professionals
- Strong understanding of end-to-end supply chain and procurement processes
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and perform effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication, negotiation, and vendor management skills
- Demonstrates initiative, accountability, and a positive, team-oriented attitude
- Ability to communicate operational and supply chain concepts effectively across departments
- Commitment to company policies, procedures, and continuous improvement practice
