Job Description
Step into a meaningful nursing role providing dedicated care to a preschool student with complex medical needs. This contract opportunity extends from August 2026 through June 2027 and is located near Quincy, MA. You'll work full-time, Monday through Friday, for 35-37.5 hours per week. Serve as a 1:1 nurse, offering essential care on the bus to and from school and throughout the entire school day.
As the student's support and advocate, you’ll ensure their safety and well-being while fostering their development in a school setting. This role involves close partnership with families, educators, and healthcare professionals.
Desired Qualifications:
- Active RN license in Massachusetts
- Previous experience in school nursing or pediatric settings preferred
- Confidence managing tracheostomy, oxygen therapy, and G-tube care
- Understanding of complex pediatric diagnoses, including Down syndrome, tracheomalacia, hypothyroidism, and developmental delays
- Strong communication and documentation skills
- Patience, flexibility, and a team-oriented attitude
Key Responsibilities:
- Meet the student at home each morning, riding the van to and from school daily
- Deliver comprehensive, individualized nursing care during transport and the school day
- Administer all feedings via G-tube, assist with tracheostomy care, and monitor continuous O2
- Identify signs of distress or changes in condition promptly
- Liaise with family, teachers, and other staff to provide seamless support
- Document care provided and maintain accurate records
