Job Title: CNC Machinist
Job Description
Join a small, tight-knit machine shop as a CNC Machinist, where you will operate CNC mills and lathes to produce a variety of precision components. This is a production-focused role that requires prior CNC mill and/or lathe experience, strong technical capability with offsets and tooling, and the ability to work efficiently with light supervision. You will contribute directly to ongoing work, ensuring parts meet quality and productivity standards without needing to perform programming.
Responsibilities
- Operate CNC mills and lathes in a small machine shop environment to produce various precision components according to specifications.
- Set up CNC machines for production runs, including installing and adjusting tooling, fixtures, and workholding as required.
- Perform machine offsets and adjustments to maintain dimensional accuracy and part quality throughout the production process.
- Run ongoing production work, monitoring machines during operation and making necessary changes to maintain efficiency and quality.
- Inspect parts during and after machining using appropriate measuring tools to ensure they meet required tolerances and quality standards.
- Troubleshoot basic machining issues, such as tool wear or dimensional deviations, and make appropriate adjustments to resolve them.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, following shop safety procedures and best practices at all times.
- Work effectively with light supervision, managing your workload, prioritizing tasks, and ensuring production targets are met.
- Collaborate with team members and leadership to communicate any issues, suggest improvements, and support continuous improvement efforts.
Essential Skills
- Hands-on experience operating CNC mills and/or CNC lathes in a production environment.
- Proficiency in CNC machining processes, including setup, operation, and basic troubleshooting.
- Ability to perform machine offsets and adjustments to maintain dimensional accuracy and part quality.
- Experience with tooling selection, installation, and adjustment for CNC milling and turning operations.
- Capability to perform setups for CNC machines to prepare for production runs.
- Comfort working with light supervision, demonstrating reliability, accountability, and strong work ethic.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience working in a small machine shop environment is beneficial.
- Experience in both CNC mill and CNC lathe operations is a plus.
- Familiarity with inspecting machined parts and using basic measurement tools is advantageous.
- Ability to adapt to different shifts and production schedules as needed.

Work Environment
You will work in a small machine shop focused on CNC machining of various components, using CNC mills and lathes in a production setting. The facility operates multiple structured shifts: two day-shift positions from 5:00 AM to 5:00 PM Monday through Thursday, two night-shift positions from 5:00 PM to 5:00 AM Monday through Thursday, and two weekend-shift positions from 5:00 AM to 5:00 PM Friday through Sunday, where 36 hours are paid as 40. The shop environment is hands-on and fast-paced, with an emphasis on safety, organization, and teamwork, and you will be expected to wear appropriate work attire suitable for a machining and manufacturing setting.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.00 - $28.00/hr.
