The Staffing Coordinator/Scheduler plays an important role in supporting the nursing department by maintaining accurate staffing schedules, coordinating coverage, and providing administrative support to help ensure appropriate staffing levels are maintained.
Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare and maintain nursing department schedules for each calendar month, including schedules for CNAs, LPNs, RNs, and other nursing staff.
Coordinate staffing coverage and secure call-in replacements when necessary to help maintain appropriate staffing levels and meet facility, state, and federal requirements.
Work closely with nursing leadership to identify staffing needs, scheduling gaps, and coverage concerns.
Answer phones, greet and assist residents, families, visitors, and staff, and appropriately relay messages and communications.
Provide administrative and clerical support to the nursing department.
Assist with processing admissions, transfers, and discharges as needed.
Maintain and organize records, schedules, reports, and other documentation.
Assist with job assignments, staffing-related reports, and other administrative functions.
Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive employee and resident information professionally.
Perform other duties and administrative responsibilities as assigned.
Previous experience with staffing and scheduling nursing personnel, including RNs, LPNs, and CNAs, preferably in a skilled nursing or healthcare setting.
High school diploma or GED required; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
Current, active CPR certification required.
Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Ability to navigate internet and intranet systems effectively.
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Professional demeanor with the ability to maintain confidentiality.
Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with nursing leadership, staff, residents, families, and other members of the healthcare team.
Ability to remain calm, flexible, and solution-oriented when managing last-minute staffing changes or coverage needs.
