Job Summary
Seeking an experienced CT Technologist to perform routine and specialized CT examinations on patients of all ages. The technologist will prepare patients, operate CT imaging equipment, administer procedures as directed by the radiologist, and use independent judgment to obtain accurate diagnostic results while maintaining patient safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine and specialized CT imaging procedures according to department standards.
- Prepare patients for examinations and obtain/document accurate pre- and post-procedure information.
- Operate CT scanners, workstations, printers, and related hardware/software.
- Adapt imaging procedures based on patient condition or radiologist direction.
- Assist with invasive CT procedures, including sterile tray setup, catheters, guidewires, and radiologist assistance.
- Monitor patients throughout procedures and maintain a safe environment.
- Recognize and appropriately respond to contrast reactions and other patient concerns.
- Perform basic equipment troubleshooting and report equipment issues appropriately.
- Maintain accurate documentation in the HIS STAR Radiology system, including exam data, contrast reactions, repeat images, and exam start/stop times.
- Maintain clean, stocked, and organized CT work areas.
- Assist with patient transportation and patient flow to promote efficient department operations.
- Follow patient safety, QA/QC/QI, and applicable regulatory standards.
- Demonstrate proper patient handling and use of lift equipment.
- Provide guidance and training to fellow technologists and students as needed.
- Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, teamwork, and excellent patient/customer service.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of applicable CT experience
- Associate's Degree
- ARRT (CT) certification
- Illinois IMEA Radiologic Technologist License
- BLS – American Heart Association
- Strong CT imaging and diagnostic procedure experience
- Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
- Ability to prioritize and organize workload independently
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively with a diverse patient population and healthcare team
- Basic computer skills
- Professional, patient-focused demeanor
- Flexibility and willingness to work stand-by call
