Senior QA Specialist
Job Type: Full-Time
Department: Quality
We are seeking an experienced Senior QA Specialist to support and improve quality and food safety programs within a regulated food or dietary supplement manufacturing environment. This role will help ensure compliance with FDA regulations, FSSC 22000, HACCP, and other applicable quality and food safety standards.
Key Responsibilities- Review production batch records and approve product release within required timelines.
- Generate Certificates of Analysis (COAs) and work with Production and Quality teams to resolve documentation issues.
- Oversee and approve suppliers and manufacturing partners.
- Support food safety and quality programs including HACCP, traceability, mock recalls, internal audits, food defense, and food fraud prevention.
- Support Kosher and Halal certification programs.
- Manage and participate in investigations involving complaints, deviations, CAPAs, quality issues, and food safety incidents.
- Conduct root-cause investigations and clearly document findings and corrective actions.
- Support employee training related to GMP, GDP, HACCP, and food safety.
- Maintain and update quality procedures, documentation, and records.
- Assist with customer audits, regulatory inspections, and customer visits.
- Support management review meetings and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Track and report quality KPIs using Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure ongoing compliance and quality improvement.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field OR 5+ years of relevant experience.
- 5+ years of experience in a certified food or dietary supplement manufacturing environment.
- Experience with HACCP and PCQI requirements.
- Strong knowledge of food safety and quality systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Experience with ERP/QMS systems preferred.
- Internal auditing experience or certification preferred.
- Ability to interpret technical and regulatory requirements and communicate effectively with employees, management, customers, and auditors.
- Primarily an office-based environment with regular interaction with manufacturing operations.
- Must be able to stand, walk, sit, use hands, and communicate throughout the workday.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 35 lbs. as needed.
- Moderate noise level in the work environment.
