Summary / Job Objective: The Manager, Relationship Management & Financial Planning Services is responsible for leading and developing a team of Relationship Managers and Financial Planners who serve families and individuals with special needs and disabilities. This role combines people leadership, financial planning expertise, relationship management, and operational oversight to ensure clients and their families receive exceptional, coordinated, and highly personalized support.  The Manager serves as a key leader in connecting the organization’s mission, financial planning capabilities, and client experience. This individual provides coaching and direction to Relationship Managers and Financial Planners, establishes consistent service standards, supports complex client situations, and ensures collaboration across teams and professional partners.

 

Essential Job Functions: 

·       Lead, coach, and develop Relationship Managers and Financial Planners to achieve individual, team, and organizational goals.

·       Oversee the delivery of comprehensive financial planning and relationship management services to families who have a family member with a disability or special needs.

·       Ensure families receive thoughtful, coordinated, and highly personalized guidance throughout their planning journey.

·       Serve as a resource for complex financial planning, client relationship, and family situations.

·       Establish and maintain consistent standards for client service, communication, follow-up, and relationship management.

·       Partner with Financial Planners to ensure financial strategies are aligned with each family’s goals, circumstances, and long-term needs.

·       Work closely with Relationship Managers to strengthen client relationships, identify opportunities to deepen engagement, and ensure a seamless client experience.

·       Facilitate collaboration among financial planners, relationship managers, advisors, attorneys, CPAs, trustees, and other professional partners.

·       Monitor team performance, client activity, service levels, and key business metrics.

·       Identify opportunities to improve processes, workflows, technology, and the overall client experience.

·       Participate in client meetings when appropriate, particularly with complex or high-priority relationships.

·       Support the development and implementation of training, professional development, and best practices for the team.

·       Help translate organizational strategy and business objectives into actionable goals for the Relationship Management and Financial Planning teams.

·       Ensure appropriate documentation, follow-through, and accountability across client relationships and planning engagements.

·       Promote a culture centered on empathy, expertise, collaboration, accountability, and exceptional service.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

·       Provide leadership and quality oversight for comprehensive financial planning engagements.

·       Support planners in developing strategies addressing areas such as lifetime financial security, government benefits, special needs trusts, estate planning, insurance, retirement, and long-term care.

·       Promote a holistic approach that considers both the individual with a disability and the broader family.

·       Ensure recommendations are aligned with the family’s objectives and coordinated with their broader professional advisory team.

 

Management Responsibilities:

·       Manage, mentor, and develop Relationship Managers and Financial Planners.

·       Conduct regular one-on-one meetings, performance discussions, and goal-setting sessions.

·       Identify professional development opportunities and build individual growth plans.

·       Foster collaboration and knowledge-sharing across the team.

·       Establish clear expectations and accountability for performance and client service.

 

Qualifications:

·       Bachelor’s degree in finance, financial planning, business, social services, or a related field, strongly preferred.

·       5+ years of experience in financial planning, wealth management, financial services, relationship management, or a related field.

·       3+ years of people-management or team-leadership experience.

·       Demonstrated experience working with high-net-worth families, complex financial planning situations, or clients requiring highly personalized service.

·       Experience working with families impacted by disability or special needs is strongly preferred.

·       CFP®, ChFC®, or other relevant professional designation preferred.

·       Strong understanding of comprehensive financial planning and the coordination of financial, estate, insurance, retirement, and long-term care strategies.

·       Experience working collaboratively with attorneys, CPAs, trustees, advisors, and other professional partners.

·       Strong organizational, communication, and relationship-management skills.

Compensation & Benefits:

Compensation (based on experience)

  • Annual base salary: $95,000 - $110,000; exempt
  • Annual performance bonus target:  20%
