DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position focuses on helping individuals address housing crises and barriers to basic needs through careful assessment and supportive planning. Work centers on guiding consumers toward greater independence in the community. As a County Caseworker 1, you will perform the following duties:
- Housing Assessment: Evaluate housing crises and review consumer histories and needs
- Needs Evaluation: Identify barriers related to housing, employment, transportation, and other basic needs
- Program Guidance: Provide information about agency programs and verify eligibility for services
- Referral Support: Offer referral options and help consumers create plans to meet housing needs
- Caseload Management: Maintain organized and compliant consumer files and records
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment; 37.5 hours/week.
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 1-hour lunch.
- May have occasional overnight travel or out of county travel for meetings or training.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Two years of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 and two years of college level course work which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or
- A bachelor's degree which includes or is supplemented by successful completion of 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences and one year of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 or in a similar position performing paraprofessional case management functions.
- Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within two months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.
Other Requirements:
- PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirements:
- You must pass a background investigation.
- A conditional offer of employment will require a drug screening.
This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
