Job Title: Senior Accountant/Interim Controller

Job Description

This individual will lead comprehensive accounting and financial cleanup efforts, drive accurate and timely financial reporting, and serve as the accounting lead for ERP readiness and implementation. This role focuses on reviewing and reconciling general ledger accounts, resolving historical discrepancies, strengthening internal controls, and developing efficient processes and documentation to support future-state accounting functions.

Responsibilities

  • Review and reconcile general ledger accounts to ensure financial accuracy and completeness.
  • Identify and resolve historical accounting discrepancies, unreconciled balances, and data integrity issues.
  • Analyze balance sheet accounts and perform detailed account reconciliations.
  • Review journal entries and implement corrective adjustments as needed.
  • Evaluate the chart of accounts structure and recommend improvements to support future reporting requirements.
  • Assess current accounting processes and identify opportunities to increase efficiency and accuracy.
  • Clean and organize financial data in preparation for ERP migration.
  • Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities to ensure timely completion.
  • Prepare and review financial statements and supporting schedules.
  • Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting for management.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis to support decision-making.
  • Develop standardized reporting procedures and documentation.
  • Serve as the accounting lead for ERP preparation activities.
  • Validate financial data prior to migration into the new ERP system.
  • Collaborate with implementation partners, IT teams, and company leadership throughout the ERP project.
  • Assist with testing, validation, and reconciliation efforts during data conversion.
  • Develop accounting workflows and best practices within the new ERP environment.
  • Create process documentation and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for future-state accounting functions.
  • Evaluate and strengthen internal accounting controls.
  • Ensure adherence to GAAP and company accounting policies.
  • Support external audits and provide required documentation.
  • Recommend process improvements that enhance compliance and reduce risk.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting.
  • Proficiency in preparing and reviewing journal entries.
  • Expertise in account reconciliations.
  • Experience managing month-end close activities.
  • Strong financial reporting skills, including preparation of financial statements and supporting schedules.
  • Solid understanding of GAAP and company accounting policy compliance.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and financial analysis.
  • Experience working within ERP systems.
  • Proven experience identifying accounting discrepancies and implementing corrective actions.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective problem-solving skills applied to accounting and process issues.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $70.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
