\nUnit Specifics:
\n· Number of Beds : 26
\n· Patient Ratios : 6-8 patients
\n· Unit staffing description- (unit secretaries and tech availability) : RNs, no unit secretary, rarely use of PCT only with short staffing
\n· Type of equipment : vitals machine, glucometer, computer, TCB, post partum supplies
\n· Documentation system: CPN, Meditech
\n· Scheduling requirements: Varies, typically 2 hard to staff shifts (Mon/Fri), and 1 full weekend requirement every 3 rd week plus 1 additional weekend
\n· On Call Requirements: none
\n· Floating policy: within women's services unless cross trained to pediatrics and/or NICU
\n· Patient Experience requirements: post-partum, LDRP, well baby nursery, recoveries, attending births for baby
\nHospital Specifics-
\n· Certifications: BLS, NRP
\nHiring profile
\nRequested Skill Set: The Registered Nurse Mother Baby unit cares for women of childbearing age and newborns. Ability to recognize unit workflow, process, policies and procedures within post partum unit. Ability to assess and identify risk factors related to: sepsis, venous thromboembolism/deep vein thrombosis (VTE/DVT), suicide, malignant hyperthermia, pressure injury. Ability to provide discharge education and assessment, abnormal assessment, pain management, time management, prioritization of patient care needs dependent upon acuity and needs of the patient. Use of AIDET and BSSR.
\nMust have : Graduate from an accredited school of nursing, BSN preferred
\nAdvanced skills needed: N/A
\nProcedures performed on unit: circumcisions
\nCertifications Required: BLS, NRP
\nDress Code : (Required uniform)
\n· Black scrub pants and Caribbean blue scrub top, vest, or jacket
