American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN - Mother/Baby with strong L&D skills for a 12-hour night shift position requiring a WA or compact RN license and at least 1 year of experience.

- Work in the Birth Center of a Level III Trauma Center with 375 licensed beds \n
- Unit includes 9 LDR, 2 OB OR, 2 OB PACU, 11 Level II NICU, 4-bed Peds, 20-bed Mother/Baby unit, 18-bed START perinatal addiction unit, and 3 OB ED beds (20 weeks and above) \n
- Level II Perinatal Center caring for patients 32 weeks and above \n
- Common diagnoses include hypertension, magnesium administration, and medication management for substance abuse, along with a high volume of low-risk patients needing intermittent monitoring, epidurals, and fetal monitoring \n
- Provides antepartum care for patients needing continued fetal monitoring and post-labor care as stable mothers and babies transition to Mother/Baby (32-34 week infants transfer to NICU) \n
- Unit averages 175-200 deliveries per month \n
- Patient ratios follow AWHONN and NANN guidelines: 1:1 for active labor and 1:2 for non-active laboring patients \n
- EMR systems used include EPIC Stork and GE Centricity \n
- Uses Alaris IV pumps and Pyxis medication dispensing system \n
- 12-hour night shifts (1900-0700) with rotating weekends every other week \n
- No on-call requirements \n
- Schedule is created in 3-week increments \n
- May float between L&D and Mother/Baby based on competency, but will not float to the START unit \n

- Active WA or compact RN license required \n
- Current BLS and NRP certifications required \n
- Fetal monitoring certification required (AWHONN or Relia's module) \n
- Minimum 1 year of experience required \n
- Strong L&D experience required, including cervical exams, antepartum and labor care, amnio infusion, epidurals, fetal monitoring, IVs, and Pitocin administration \n
- Post-partum experience required, including care for mother and baby beyond the initial 24-hour transition period and basic breastfeeding support \n
- Experience with couplet care once mother and baby are stable required \n
- Pyxis medication dispensing system experience required \n
- First-time travelers will be considered \n
- \n
- Provide comprehensive care for mother/baby patients including labor, delivery, and post-partum periods \n
- Support team includes 24/7 Respiratory Therapy for high-risk deliveries, 24/7 Hospitalist and Laborist-OBGYN coverage, OB Group, Midwife and Family Practice Group, and available phlebotomy services \n
- No CNAs on the unit; Surgery Techs available Monday-Friday 0600-1500 \n
- NICU team attends deliveries at 34 weeks or less as needed \n
- Orientation includes New Employee Orientation (NEO) and two shifts on the unit covering delivery and C-section/triage experience \n
- Must complete annual core competencies (HIPAA, OSHA, etc.), a medication exam, and a unit competency exam prior to arrival \n
- Holiday coverage required for one major and one minor holiday \n
- RTO requests require manager approval \n
- Scrubs are provided and free parking is available \n
