Description\n

American Traveler seeks a Speech-Language Pathologist for an Acute Care Hospital, requiring bedside swallow evaluation experience and MN state licensure.

Details\n

\n
• Position split between inpatient rehab and acute care nursing units
\n
• Acute care work primarily involves dysphagia and swallowing disorders
\n
• Day shift, 5x8-hour shifts, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
\n
• Every 5th weekend required (Saturday and Sunday)
\n
• Epic charting system used, experience preferred but any system accepted
\n
• Magnet-designated, teaching hospital with Level II Trauma status
\n
• 479 staffed beds
\n

Requirements\n

\n
• Active Minnesota state license required (license required if applicable)
\n
• Minimum 1 year of experience required
\n
• BLS and CCC-SLP certification required
\n
• Required experience with bedside swallow evaluations and treatments
\n
• Acute care experience highly preferred
\n
• Video fluoroscopy swallow evaluation experience preferred
\n
• Skills in dysphagia management, adaptive equipment, and alternative/augmentative communication devices preferred
\n
• Experience with trach/vent and ventilator-dependent patients preferred
\n
• Pending licenses not accepted
\n

Additional Information\n

\n
• Perform bedside swallow exams to determine need for further modified barium swallow studies
\n
• Treat adult populations including CVA, TBI, degenerative diseases, dysarthria, and dysphagia
\n
• Provide patient and family education as part of treatment plan
\n
• Conduct oral peripheral exams and other standard evaluation tools
\n
• Manage diet order modifications and use of thickening agents
\n
• Holiday coverage required as needed by facility
\n
• First-time travelers accepted
\n
• Local candidates not accepted; must live more than 25 miles from facility
\n
• Former permanent staff must be separated from facility for at least 9 months before returning as a traveler
\n
• Maximum 7 days RTO permitted with no RTO during first 2 weeks of assignment
\n
• All RTO requests must be disclosed and approved at time of consideration
\n
• Minnesota fingerprinting requirement mandates in-person Livescan completion in Minnesota the Monday prior to start date
\n
