Job Description
The Registered Nurse is responsible for overseeing the safe, effective, and efficient care of patients in the procedure room. The nurse is responsible for providing patients with perioperative care in the procedure and recovery rooms. They are responsible for communicating with patients and other healthcare professionals to ensure continuity of postoperative care. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following: •Performs patient admissions assessment. •Uses clinical assessment skills and tools to determine patient needs including physiological, safety, and educational. •Recognizes and reports changes in the patient’s status. •Processes physicians’ orders in a timely manner. •Provides medication as ordered. •Acts as an advocate in providing safe delivery of care. •Demonstrates ability to circulate and assist in all procedure areas. •Utilizes measures to prevent infection. •Manages and operates equipment safely. •Demonstrates knowledge of sterile techniques. •Alleviate patient’s concerns by answering questions and providing postoperative care instructions. •Update patient files and medical records. •Adhere to all relevant health and safety standards. •Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities) •Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. •Current California RN license. •Communicates and works effectively with people. •Maintains current CPR certification and ACLS. •Strong patient assessment skills required, including the ability to triage patients. •Flexibility to adapt to changing or stressful conditions. •Knowledge of operating room procedures. •Solid understanding of patient health and safety standards. •Excellent organizational skills. •Computer skills required.
