Job Description

The purpose of this position is to manage the daily functions of the Human Resources (HR) department in collaboration with the HR Director, including hiring and interviewing staff, administering pay, benefits, and leave, and enforcing company policies and practices.

 

Minimum Mandatory Qualifications:

  • Three (3) years of HR experience in screening, onboarding, and recruiting applicants in any employment setting.
  • Associate’s degree in Human Resources Management or a related field OR a combination of education and experience

Preferred Qualifications:

Five (5) years direct HR experience.

Experience working in a tribal 638 facility.
SHRM-CP, PHR or THRP Certification.

Native American preferred.

 

  • Assists in recruiting, interviewing, and hiring HH personnel. Ensures all hiring processes are effective, legally compliant, and timely.
  • Assists in counseling managers on supervisory concerns, including corrective actions and performance appraisals.
  • Monitors the performance appraisal program and makes adjustments as necessary.
  • Assists with employee orientations and ensures personnel are well informed of HR policies and programs.
  • Coordinates the updating of job descriptions. Receives and reviews job descriptions from department managers. Ensures information is complete and current.
  • Administers benefits programs. Processes claims resolution and changes of reporting. Communicates related information to employees.
  • Assists in developing and implementing human resource operations plans, policies, procedures, and goals. Recommends improvements as appropriate.
  • Maintains and updates employee files. Ensures employee files are complete and in compliance with HH policies and legal regulations.
  • Ensures all payroll records, including timecards, sick leave, personal leave, overtime, insurance deductions, and tax forms, are properly maintained and preserved. Submits information to payroll specialist as scheduled.
  • Ensures employment and enrollment forms, including W-4s, insurance, retirement, and benefits documents, are current and complete.
  • Assists in preparing and reviewing employee benefit review statements.
  • Prepares, reviews, and approves all required regulatory reporting documents.
  • Ensures all human resource records are maintained in accordance with established HH policies and applicable laws and regulations.
  • Resolves employee requests, complaints, and problems courteously and promptly. Counsels employees and managers concerning job-related matters.
  • Assists Managers and Directors on HR matters; provides support for training and explanation of benefits programs.
  • Keeps Human Resources Director informed of area activities and of any significant concerns. Completes required reports accurately and promptly. Attends meetings as required.
  • Responsible for maintaining professional business relations with vendors, government contacts and suppliers and ensures questions and concerns are promptly and courteously resolved.
  • Stays abreast of trends/changes in the HR field and related legal requirements.
  • Completes special projects and other duties as assigned.
