We are looking for a Patient Access Specialist to support front-end patient services in Virginia. This contract to hire role is ideal for someone who enjoys creating a welcoming experience while handling registration, scheduling, and insurance-related tasks in a busy healthcare setting. The role requires strong attention to detail, professionalism, and the ability to communicate clearly with patients, visitors, and internal teams.


Responsibilities:

• Greet patients and visitors professionally and help create a positive first impression at the point of arrival.

• Complete patient intake activities by entering and updating demographic, insurance, and account information with a high level of accuracy.

• Coordinate appointment scheduling, confirmations, and related follow-up communication to support timely patient access.

• Collect co-pays and other patient payments while maintaining accurate daily balancing and transaction records.

• Partner with clinical and administrative staff to keep patient movement organized and reduce delays in service.

• Respond to patient questions and concerns with patience and professionalism, escalating more complex issues when appropriate.

• Safeguard sensitive health information by following established privacy standards and confidentiality requirements

• Previous experience in patient registration, patient access, or a similar medical front-desk role, or general experience in customer service/admin work.

• Working knowledge of appointment scheduling and patient intake procedures in a medical environment.

• Ability to verify medical insurance information accurately and efficiently.

• Comfortable assisting patients in person and over the phone with professionalism and empathy.

• Strong organizational skills with close attention to detail and data accuracy.

• Ability to handle payment collection and maintain reliable transaction documentation.

• Effective communication skills and the ability to work well with both patients and internal teams.
