Job Description
Make a meaningful impact in the lives of students as a paraprofessional in a dynamic school environment near Independence, Missouri! Contract positions are available for both short-term and full school year assignments at elementary and middle school campuses. Work closely with students and educational teams to provide support, encouragement, and guidance throughout the academic year.
Desired skills and experience:
- Active substitute certificate registered with DESE (required)
- Demonstrated background in schools and student behavior support
- Experience working with children in educational settings
- Flexibility and willingness to adjust to changes in assignment or school location as needed
- Reliable transportation to travel between sites as assigned
- Willingness to obtain district-specific fingerprints (candidates are responsible for the fee)
- Strong teamwork, organizational, and interpersonal skills
Key responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one or small-group assistance to students in academic, social, and behavioral areas
- Implement instructional plans and positive behavioral supports under teacher and specialist guidance
- Foster inclusive, safe learning environments for diverse learners
- Monitor student engagement and report progress to staff and families
- Collaborate with educators, therapists, and school leaders to meet student needs
- Adapt quickly to changing assignments or schedules throughout the school year
These contract opportunities include full-time options and a short-term leave replacement, with start dates available immediately or for the full school year through late May. Candidates must complete a two-step interview and onboarding process and provide their own fingerprinting as part of district requirements.
