Job Description
We are looking for a Patient Access Specialist to support front-end patient services in Virginia. This contract to hire role is ideal for someone who enjoys creating a welcoming experience while handling registration, scheduling, and insurance-related tasks in a busy healthcare setting. The role requires strong attention to detail, professionalism, and the ability to communicate clearly with patients, visitors, and internal teams.
Responsibilities:
• Greet patients and visitors professionally and help create a positive arrival experience.
• Complete patient intake activities by entering and updating demographic and insurance information with accuracy.
• Coordinate appointment scheduling, confirmations, and related follow-up communication.
• Receive co-payments and other patient payments while maintaining accurate daily balancing records.
• Partner with clinical and front-office staff to support efficient patient movement throughout the day.
• Respond to patient questions and concerns with professionalism, and route more complex issues to the appropriate team members.
• Safeguard sensitive health information by following privacy standards and established compliance requirements.
• Previous experience in patient registration, patient access, or a similar medical front-desk role, or general experience in customer service/admin work.
• Ability to assist patients in a courteous, calm, and service-focused manner.
• Familiarity with appointment scheduling processes and related administrative support.
• Knowledge of medical insurance verification and accurate documentation practices.
• Strong data entry skills with careful attention to detail and accuracy.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced medical office environment.
