Job Title: Project Engineer

Job Description

The Project Engineer supports the design and analysis of structural components, ensuring safe, efficient, and code-compliant solutions for a variety of projects. This role combines technical structural engineering work with project coordination, collaboration across teams, and direct involvement in client communication. The position offers strong growth potential, including a path toward professional licensure and advancement into a lead-level role.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and review structural calculations for component design to ensure safety, reliability, and adherence to engineering best practices.
  • Analyze structural components and evaluate design alternatives to optimize performance, cost, and constructability.
  • Ensure all designs comply with applicable building codes, regulations, and internal standards.
  • Collaborate closely with Project Managers, design teams, and external partners to align engineering solutions with project objectives.
  • Contribute to project coordination and scheduling to support timely delivery of design packages and project milestones.
  • Participate in client communication, helping to clarify technical concepts and address project-related questions or concerns.
  • Prepare, review, and respond to requests for information (RFIs) related to structural design and project documentation.
  • Use Revit to develop and coordinate structural models and drawings in support of project deliverables.
  • Apply strong attention to detail when reviewing drawings, calculations, and specifications to maintain high-quality standards.
  • Utilize Microsoft Outlook and Word to manage project correspondence, documentation, and reporting.
  • Work effectively within a small engineering team, supporting colleagues and contributing to a collaborative work environment.
  • Demonstrate flexibility in working through language barriers to ensure clear, accurate communication with clients and partners.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering.
  • 0-4 years of experience
  • Experience performing structural engineering calculations for component design.
  • Project engineering experience with responsibility for design coordination and technical review.
  • Proficiency with Revit for structural modeling and design documentation.
  • Fundamentals of Engineering (EIT) certification preferred and actively working toward Professional Engineer (PE) licensure.
  • Strong structural engineering knowledge, including building codes and standards.
  • Ability to analyze structural components and evaluate design alternatives.
  • Experience preparing and responding to RFIs in a project environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a willingness to work through language barriers.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Word.
  • Strong attention to detail in calculations, drawings, and written documentation.

Work Environment

The role is based in a smaller engineering firm of approximately 22 people, offering a close-knit and collaborative environment. The Project Engineer will work alongside five other engineers, three of whom serve as Project Managers, and will report to a Senior Engineer. The company provides a flexible work environment, including some flexibility on Mondays and Fridays, and emphasizes work-life balance. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Denver, CO.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $43.00 - $48.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
