Job Description
We are looking for a Patient Access Specialist to support front-end patient services in Virginia. This contract to hire role is ideal for someone who enjoys creating a welcoming experience while handling registration, scheduling, and insurance-related tasks in a busy healthcare setting. The role requires strong attention to detail, professionalism, and the ability to communicate clearly with patients, visitors, and internal teams.
Responsibilities:
• Greet patients and visitors in a courteous manner and help create a positive first impression at the point of service.
• Complete patient intake activities, including entering demographic information and maintaining accurate account details.
• Confirm insurance coverage and review required information to help support timely and correct patient processing.
• Coordinate appointment scheduling, send confirmations, and assist with follow-up communication as needed.
• Collect co-payments and other patient balances while maintaining accurate daily cash-handling records.
• Partner with clinical and administrative staff to keep patient movement efficient and support smooth office operations.
• Respond to patient questions and concerns professionally, resolving routine issues and directing more complex matters appropriately.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient information by following healthcare privacy standards and internal policies.
• Previous experience in patient registration, patient access, or a similar medical front-desk role, or general experience in customer service/admin work.
• Ability to assist patients professionally while delivering clear and compassionate customer service.
• Working knowledge of appointment scheduling processes and patient intake coordination.
• Familiarity with insurance verification and collection of required patient information.
• Strong data entry skills with close attention to accuracy and completeness.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively in a fast-paced medical setting.
• Solid verbal and written communication skills and a dependable, team-oriented approach.
