Instructional Assistant - Berkeley, California

Exciting opportunities are available for three dedicated Paraprofessionals or Instructional Aides to support various elementary classrooms for the upcoming academic year. These full-time, contract roles span multiple renowned elementary schools and are essential in providing assistance to students ranging from Transitional Kindergarten to 5th grade. Candidates will be part of a supportive team atmosphere, making a meaningful impact each day.

Key Qualifications & Experience:

• Experience as a paraprofessional, instructional aide, or in a similar role within elementary schools highly preferred
• Comfort in providing classroom support to students ages 4–11, including assistance with toileting and diapering when needed
• Willingness to adapt to different grade levels and classroom environments across elementary school sites
• Completion of para training (required prior to assignment start)
• Reliable transportation and flexibility with school site assignments (note: some commute routes may include bridge tolls)
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, fostering positive relationships with students and staff

Primary Responsibilities:

• Support classroom instruction and reinforce lessons provided by teaching staff
• Engage one-on-one or in small group activities, providing additional attention and encouragement where needed
• Assist students with daily routines, transitions, and classroom procedures
• Collaborate with teachers and staff to create a safe and nurturing learning environment
• Provide necessary personal care, including toileting and diapering support for younger students
• Help maintain a welcoming classroom atmosphere that promotes learning and development

This full-time contract position offers the opportunity to work in a vibrant educational setting from August 17th, 2026, to June 11th, 2027, with shift options between 7:45 am–2:45 pm or 8:00 am–3:00 pm to accommodate before and after-school needs.
