This entry-level position provides hands-on experience working with probation officers, pretrial services, treatment courts, and the judicial system. This is a great opportunity for someone studying or pursuing a career in criminal justice, social work, corrections, law enforcement, or a related field.Important Position RequirementThis position involves observing urinary specimen collections and due to the nature of the task, Bonneville County may implement gender-specific hiring. Female technicians will only observe female donors, while male technicians will only observe male donors, there are no exceptions to this requirement.Because this vacancy is responsible for observing male donors, we are currently recruiting a male technician.Primary ResponsibilitiesConduct and document random drug and alcohol testingObserve specimen collections and prepare samples for laboratory testingEnter testing results into the statewide databaseMaintain testing schedules, supplies, records, and a sanitary collection areaConduct authorized records checks through NCIC and the iCourt PortalPrepare reports and attend designated court sessionsAssist probation officers and pretrial case managers with case documentationProvide occasional administrative support, including answering phones, scheduling appointments, filing, and data entryMinimum QualificationsApplicants must have:Two years of post-high-school education in social sciences, criminal justice, or a related field; andOne year of responsible work experience;Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesThe successful candidate must be able to maintain confidentiality, follow detailed instructions, communicate effectively, remain professional in difficult situations, and work successfully with probationers, court personnel, treatment providers, coworkers, and the public.Basic typing and data-entry skills are required. The selected candidate must obtain and maintain NCIC certification, including passing the required certification test every two years.Schedule and Work EnvironmentThis is a part-time position with varying daily hours. Some weekend work is required. The position includes office, courtroom, administrative, and drug-testing responsibilities and may involve unpredictable or potentially hazardous situations.Regular attendance and reliable work performance are essential.
