Norristown State Hospital is looking for a Custodial Work Supervisor who is ready to take charge and inspire others. This position gives you the opportunity to support essential services while helping staff succeed in their work. Your leadership will support our mission and keep our buildings running smoothly.
DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position ensures housekeeping and cleaning activities are carried out effectively throughout the hospital. Work involves supervising staff, maintaining safe environments, and supporting facility operations. As a Custodial Work Supervisor, you will perform the following duties:
- Staff Supervision: Direct staff as they complete cleaning and sanitation tasks across multiple building areas
- Safety Guidance: Teach staff how to follow safety procedures when working near clients and hazardous materials
- Facility Upkeep: Manage cleaning of living spaces, offices, treatment rooms, and support services such as linen distribution and waste collection
- Equipment Instruction: Train staff to use cleaning tools, chemicals, disinfectants, and protective materials correctly
- Record Management: Maintain logs, prepare reports, and request needed supplies and equipment
- Repair Reporting: Report damage to surfaces, fixtures, or equipment and submit repair requests

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Work schedule includes working two weekends on and two weekends off. Schedule may change based on operational needs.
- Overtime may be required, as needed.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year as a Custodial Worker 2 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- Two years of experience performing custodial work.

- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirements:
- A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
- This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
- Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
