Operations Manager

Overview: 

As an Aerospace Manufacturing Operations Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day manufacturing operations for the company, an Aerospace Manufacturing firm. You will play a crucial role in ensuring production efficiency, quality standards, and safety compliance. Your leadership will be essential in driving operational excellence, managing resources effectively, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Operations Management:
2. • Oversee all aspects of manufacturing operations including production scheduling, resource allocation, and workflow management.
   • Ensure adherence to production plans, timelines, and quality standards.
   • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track operational efficiency and identify areas for improvement.
3. Team Leadership and Development:
4. • Lead and supervise a team of production supervisors, technicians, and support staff.
   • Provide guidance, training, and performance feedback to enhance team capabilities and productivity.
   • Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment focused on achieving operational goals.
5. Quality Assurance and Compliance:
6. • Implement and maintain quality control procedures to meet aerospace industry standards (e.g., AS9100).
   • Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure product quality and compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., FAA, EASA).
   • Lead initiatives for continuous improvement in quality processes and operational efficiencies.
7. Health, Safety, and Environmental Management:
8. • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations in all manufacturing activities.
   • Promote and enforce a culture of safety awareness and best practices among the team.
   • Implement measures to mitigate workplace hazards and improve overall safety performance.
9. Supply Chain and Inventory Management:
10. • Collaborate with supply chain management to optimize materials sourcing, procurement, and inventory control.
    • Monitor inventory levels and ensure availability of materials to support production schedules.
    • Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers to ensure timely delivery and quality of components.
11. Continuous Improvement and Operational Excellence:
12. • Drive initiatives for process optimization, cost reduction, and waste elimination using lean manufacturing principles and best practices.
    • Champion and support cross-functional teams in implementing improvement projects and achieving operational excellence goals.
    • Utilize data analysis and performance metrics to identify opportunities for efficiency gains and operational enhancements.
13. Budget Management and Cost Control:
14. • Develop and manage budgets for manufacturing operations, including labor, materials, and overhead costs.
    • Monitor expenditures and implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality or safety standards.

Requirements:

• Proven experience (typically 8+ years) in Aerospace manufacturing operations, with at least 3 years in a managerial or leadership role.
• In-depth knowledge of aerospace manufacturing processes, production planning, and quality management systems.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop teams.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and proficiency in data analysis tools.
• Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies.
• Certification in Project Management (e.g., PMP) or Lean Six Sigma is desirable.
