Medication Technician Responsibilities

• Administer prescribed medications according to physician orders and facility policies
• Accurately document medication administration and resident observations
• Monitor residents for medication effectiveness and adverse reactions
• Observe and report changes in resident conditions to nursing staff
• Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) when appropriate
• Maintain medication records and ensure compliance with state regulations
• Promote resident comfort, safety, dignity, and independence
• Collaborate with nurses, caregivers, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams
• Follow infection control, safety, and compliance guidelines

Qualifications

• Current Iowa Medication Aide, Medication Technician, Med Tech, CMA, or equivalent certification as required by Iowa regulations
• Previous Medication Technician, Caregiver, Assisted Living, Memory Care, Senior Living, or Long-Term Care experience preferred
• Strong attention to detail and medication administration accuracy
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a healthcare team
• Successful completion of background screening requirements
