Job Description
North Pointe Health & Rehab is seeking a dedicated, knowledgeable, and compassionate Staff Development Coordinator / Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) to join our leadership team.
Position Summary
The Staff Development Coordinator / ADON will support the Director of Nursing in providing strong clinical leadership, staff education, competency development, quality improvement, and regulatory compliance. This position plays a key role in ensuring nursing staff are well-trained, supported, and equipped to provide safe, high-quality resident care.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and maintain the facility's staff development and education program.
- Conduct new-hire orientation, nursing orientation, and ongoing in-service education.
- Develop and monitor competency programs for CNAs, LPNs, and RNs.
- Identify educational needs through audits, quality measures, incidents, grievances, and staff performance.
- Assist with preparation for state surveys, CMS surveys, and regulatory inspections.
- Assist the DON with nursing department operations and clinical oversight.
- Monitor documentation, infection prevention practices, resident care, and nursing standards.
- Participate in Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) activities.
- Assist with staff coaching, counseling, and performance improvement.
- Monitor completion of required annual education and competencies.
- Maintain accurate training records and ensure required education is completed timely.
- Assist with investigation and follow-up of incidents, accidents, and resident concerns.
- Promote person-centered care and ensure resident rights, preferences, and dignity are maintained.
- Serve as a clinical resource and mentor for nursing staff.
- Participate in leadership meetings and facility-wide performance improvement initiatives.
- Provide nursing coverage and clinical support as needed.
- Promote teamwork, accountability, professionalism, and a positive workplace culture.
Qualifications
- Current LPN or RN license in the State of Mississippi required.
- Long-term care/SNF experience strongly preferred.
- Previous staff development, ADON, charge nurse, or supervisory experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of CMS, state regulations, infection prevention, and long-term care clinical practices.
- Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills.
- Ability to educate, coach, and motivate nursing staff.
- Strong documentation and computer skills.
- Commitment to providing excellent resident-centered care.
