Job Description

Senior .NET / Azure Developer
Remote, U.S. | C2C $85-$105/hr or W-2 $75-$92/hr equivalent ($156,000-$191,000/yr)

ABOUT LIVI CONSULTING

LiVi Consulting is a certified Woman-Owned Small Business (WOSB) and Veteran-Owned Small Business (VOSB) specializing in enterprise .NET and Azure architecture, AI-enabled development, and cloud modernization. Our clients span energy and utilities, construction, and federal contracting.

We work differently from traditional consulting firms. Rather than staffing engagements with junior resources, every LiVi engagement is led by senior architects who bring decades of enterprise experience, amplified by AI-accelerated development practices. We call it Scaling Seniority.

THE ROLE AT A GLANCE

- Structure: Corp-to-Corp anywhere in the U.S., or W-2 employment in seven states. Contract-to-hire is available on some engagements.
- Compensation: C2C $85-$105 per hour. W-2 $75-$92 per hour equivalent ($156,000-$191,000 per year).
- Location: Fully remote. All work must be performed within the United States.
- Travel: Rare. At most once or twice a year, and often none.
- Technical direction: Viktor Dolezel, Chief Technology Officer
- Start date: Rolling. We review candidates as they come in.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

Roughly 70% hands-on development and 30% direct client engagement, across both long-running modernization programs and shorter, scoped projects. This is a senior role in the real sense. You own the architecture of your workstream, you are the technical voice in front of the client, and the developers around you get better because you are on the engagement.

- Own the architecture of your workstream end to end: service boundaries, data model, API contracts, integration points, and failure modes, with a senior architect setting overall direction across the engagement
- Design and build production .NET applications, both greenfield cloud-native services and modernization of systems already carrying load
- Architect and deploy on Azure: App Service, Function Apps, API Management, Service Bus, Data Factory, Front Door, Static Web Apps, AI Foundry, SQL Server, and Cosmos DB
- Decompose monolithic applications into APIs and services without breaking what is already in production
- Lead architecture decisions on your workstream: evaluate the tradeoffs, make the recommendation, and defend it to both the client and our CTO
- Write the design documents and architecture decision records the client's own team will rely on to carry the work forward
- Be the technical lead in client conversations: run requirements sessions, present recommendations and their tradeoffs, and translate technical constraints into terms a non-technical audience can act on
- Mentor developers earlier in their careers, deliberately and not just when asked. Pair with them, unblock them, and hand off design work as they are ready for it.
- Review designs and pull requests across the team with an eye toward maintainability, not just correctness, and raise the bar without slowing delivery
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code
- Apply AI-assisted and agentic development practices to move faster without giving up quality

WHAT WE REQUIRE

This is the short list, and it is deliberately short. These are the things that would keep us from moving forward. If you meet them, apply. We will evaluate everything else in conversation.

- Six or more years of professional, hands-on .NET and C# development, including recent work in .NET 6 or later
- Demonstrated architecture ownership at the system level. You have taken more than one service or a substantial system from ambiguous requirements through design to production, and you can walk us through the decisions you made and the ones you would make differently now.
- Production Azure experience. You have designed, deployed, and supported real workloads, not just consumed a service someone else configured.
- Strong relational database skills in SQL Server or PostgreSQL, including schema design and query tuning
- Practical command of REST API design, clean architecture, and SOLID principles applied in real codebases, not just described
- Working proficiency in React or Angular. We use both across different applications.
- A track record of raising the level of the developers around you through mentoring, design review, and code review
- The ability to lead a client conversation without a buffer and communicate clearly, in writing and out loud
- Able to perform all work from within the United States

WHAT HELPS

None of these are required. Each one is a reason for us to look harder at your resume.

- Legacy modernization experience, ASP.NET 4.8 or .NET Framework moving toward modern .NET
- Microservices and event-driven or distributed architecture designed and run in production
- Domain-driven design or other structured approaches to breaking a large system into services
- Azure OpenAI or AI Foundry, retrieval-augmented generation, or other production GenAI integration
- Fluency with AI-assisted, agentic development workflows
- Infrastructure as code with Terraform or Bicep, and CI/CD design in Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions
- Entity Framework Core 6 or later, .NET Aspire, Cosmos DB or other NoSQL at scale
- Agile delivery experience, including Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
- Domain experience in energy and utilities, construction, or federal contracting
- A bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field

OUR ENVIRONMENT, HONESTLY

Our clients are at different points in their modernization journeys. We would rather tell you that up front than surprise you in week two. Production applications run on .NET 6 and later, with some ASP.NET 4.8 still in service and actively being modernized. Front end is React or Angular depending on the application. Data lives in SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and Cosmos DB. Infrastructure as code is Terraform on some projects and Bicep on others, and CI/CD is Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions depending on the client. No AKS today.

ENGAGEMENT STRUCTURES AND COMPENSATION

LiVi determines the engagement structure based on the client and the role, and we will tell you which one applies before you interview. Some engagements begin Corp-to-Corp and convert to W-2 employment.

Corp-to-Corp: $85-$105 per hour, based on experience and engagement scope. Available anywhere in the United States, full-time or part-time. You contract through your own business entity. LiVi does not provide benefits, bonuses, commission, or equity under this structure.

W-2 Employment: $75-$92 per hour equivalent ($156,000-$191,000 per year), based on experience and engagement scope. Full-time only, available in Maryland, Florida, Texas, Tennessee, Georgia, North Carolina, and Virginia. No bonus, commission, or equity is offered. Benefits include a 401(k) with a 4% employer match, an Individual Coverage Health Reimbursement Arrangement (ICHRA) with a monthly employer contribution toward the individual health plan of your choice, and leave as required by applicable state law.

ELIGIBILITY AND SCREENING

Requirements vary by engagement, and we will tell you which ones apply before you interview.

- All work must be performed from within the United States
- Some engagements require U.S. citizenship
- All placements require a complete background check and drug screen
- W-2 employment is currently available in Maryland, Florida, Texas, Tennessee, Georgia, North Carolina, and Virginia. Corp-to-Corp is available anywhere in the United States.
- H-1B transfers are considered case by case for W-2 positions. We do not sponsor new cap-subject H-1B petitions.

HOW WE HIRE

Two conversations at most. The first is technical, with our CTO, and it will spend real time on how you design systems, not just what you have used. Where the engagement calls for it, a second conversation with the client. We review candidates on a rolling basis and move quickly when the fit is right.

WHERE THIS GOES

You will work directly alongside a CTO with more than thirty years of enterprise architecture experience, on production systems for Fortune 100 and federal clients. This is not a bench or a rotation program. Contractors who deliver well get first look at larger scopes. On the W-2 track, senior developers who consistently earn client trust advance to Technical Lead, taking responsibility for architecture and delivery across an entire engagement.

HOW TO APPLY

with "Senior .NET / Azure Developer" in the subject line. Tell us which structure you are looking for, your desired rate or salary, your availability, and a few sentences about a system you designed or modernized end to end, what you chose and why. We read every one.

EQUAL EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY

LiVi Consulting, LLC is an Equal Opportunity Employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, protected veteran status, genetic information, or any other characteristic protected by applicable federal, state, or local law. If you need a reasonable accommodation to participate in any part of our application or interview process, contact us and we will work with you.
