Mercy Washington ENT Clinic
We are seeking a compassionate and patient-focused Medical Assistant (MA) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our clinic team. This position provides direct patient care and clinical support to providers while helping ensure efficient day-to-day clinic operations. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering exceptional patient care in a fast-paced outpatient setting.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Room patients and obtain vital signs, medical histories, and medication information.
- Assist providers with examinations, procedures, and treatments.
- Administer medications, injections, and treatments within scope of practice.
- Document patient information accurately in the electronic health record (EHR).
- Coordinate patient care activities, appointments, referrals, and follow-up care.
- Provide patient education and support regarding treatments, medications, and care plans.
- Maintain exam rooms, supplies, and clinical equipment.
- Follow infection prevention, safety, and confidentiality guidelines.
- Collaborate effectively with providers, nurses, and other healthcare team members.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support clinic operations.
Education
Medical Assistant (MA):
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- New hires must attend and successfully complete MA Clinic Academy training.
Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN):
- Graduate of an accredited Practical Nursing program.
- Comparable education and successful licensure may be considered.
Licensure
LPN:
- Current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the state where nursing duties are performed.
- Must maintain licensure and meet all State Board of Nursing requirements.
Certifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or successful completion within 30 days of hire.
Additional certifications may be required based on department or specialty area:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- PEARS (Pediatric Assessment, Recognition and Stabilization)
- S.T.A.B.L.E.
- Six Assessment & Care Modules
- Other unit-specific certifications as required
Experience
Medical Assistant:
- No previous experience required.
LPN:
- New graduate or experienced LPN candidates encouraged to apply.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and patient service skills.
- Proficiency with EHR systems and clinical documentation.
- Ability to multitask and adapt in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
- Knowledge of outpatient clinical procedures and medical equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Commitment to patient-centered care and teamwork.
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and comply with all privacy regulations.
- Demonstrates awareness and sensitivity to diverse patient populations and needs.
Medical Assistant
- Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
- One year of outpatient, ambulatory, or clinic experience preferred.
Licensed Practical Nurse
- IV Certification within one year of hire preferred.
