Safety Coordinator - Now Hiring

Penmac Staffing is seeking an experienced Safety Coordinator for a direct hire opportunity with a well-established manufacturing company in the Springfield area. This highly visible, hands-on role will be responsible for leading occupational safety programs, driving compliance initiatives, and fostering a strong culture of workplace safety. The Safety Coordinator will work closely with Operations, Human Resources, Engineering, Quality, and Environmental teams to reduce risk and support continuous improvement throughout the facility.Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, Regulatory Compliance, or a related field preferred
• Minimum of 4 years of safety or regulatory compliance experience required; 6+ years preferred
• Manufacturing safety experience strongly preferred
• Experience with OSHA standards, incident investigations, hazard assessments, and safety program implementation
• Knowledge of ISO 45001 safety management systems preferred
• Strong computer, data analysis, communication, and training skills
• Equivalent combinations of education, certifications, and experience will be considered

Responsibilities

• Develop and continuously improve occupational safety programs and ISO 45001-aligned management systems
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA, workers' compensation, emergency response, and company safety requirements
• Conduct inspections, audits, observations, hazard assessments, and risk evaluations
• Manage safety initiatives including LOTO, machine guarding, PPE, ergonomics, chemical safety, and corrective action programs
• Investigate incidents, injuries, near misses, and property damage while completing root-cause analyses
• Coordinate workers' compensation claims and return-to-work programs with Human Resources
• Lead safety training programs, safety committee activities, and employee coaching efforts
• Maintain OSHA logs, safety records, training documentation, dashboards, and compliance reports
• Coordinate emergency drills, contractor safety programs, industrial hygiene activities, and regulatory inspections
• Support projects related to business continuity, disaster planning, sustainability, and risk management
• Partner with Quality teams to support AS9100 compliance standards

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

• Frequent walking and standing in office and manufacturing environments
• Occasional climbing, bending, kneeling, reaching, and use of hand tools or measuring equipment
• Ability to lift up to 20 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally
• Regular computer use requiring hand and finger dexterity
• Ability to wear required personal protective equipment
• Exposure to manufacturing environments that may include noise, dust, moving equipment, and chemical substances

Pay and Schedule

• 1st Shift - Monday-Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm (flexible schedule)
• Pay: $65,000-$82,000 per year
