Job Description
Madden Industrial Craftsmen is seeking a Heavy Industrial Conveyor Belt Technician for our client in Portland, OR. This position supports field installation, repair, and maintenance of heavy industrial conveyor belt systems and related mechanical components. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with the following: conveyor belt splicing, vulcanizing, steel cable splices, pulley lagging, and mechanical troubleshooting in industrial environments.
Pay & Schedule
Pay: $25–$32/hour DOE
Shift: Monday–Friday; field-based work
Relocation assistance available for qualified candidates
Key Responsibilities
• Install, repair, and maintain heavy industrial conveyor belts and associated mechanical systems
• Perform vulcanizing, cold bond, lap, finger, and steel cable splices with precision
• Conduct pulley lagging to ensure optimal belt performance and longevity
• Inspect belts for wear, damage, and misalignment and recommend appropriate repairs
• Operate and maintain specialized splicing, vulcanizing, and lagging equipment
• Troubleshoot mechanical issues and perform preventative maintenance on conveyor systems
• Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and time on task
• Follow all safety standards and site-specific procedures
• Collaborate effectively with team members, supervisors, and clients in field environments
Required Qualifications
• Proven experience as a conveyor belt technician in heavy industrial settings
• Strong knowledge of conveyor belt construction, materials, and repair methods
• Experience performing lap splices, finger splices, steel cable splices, and cold splicing
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot conveyor systems
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical manuals
• Physical ability to lift heavy materials and work outdoors in industrial environments
• Willingness to travel, work overtime, and adapt to varying field conditions
• Must be 18 years of age and able to pass pre-employment drug and background screening
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience working in aggregate, mining, cement, or bulk material handling environments
• Experience performing hot vulcanized splices
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
• Experience working around crushers, screening equipment, or large conveying systems

Work Environment
This is a field-based role supporting heavy industrial job sites including aggregate, material handling, and manufacturing facilities. Work involves exposure to dust, noise, moving mechanical equipment, and varying weather conditions. Tasks are physically demanding and require lifting, pulling, positioning heavy belt materials, and working around active conveyor systems. PPE is required at all times.
