Job Description
Step into a fulfilling contract role supporting elementary-aged students and making a meaningful difference in their daily learning experiences. You’ll work with 2nd or 3rd grade children, focusing on individualized or small group instruction tailored to students with unique learning needs as outlined in their IEPs. This position is based in a vibrant community near Providence, RI, and requires a commitment for the school year through June 17th, 2027.
Qualifications:
- Active Rhode Island Special Education Certification (SPED)
- Experience working as a Special Education Teacher, ideally with elementary students
- Deep understanding of IEP implementation and progress monitoring
- Ability to develop and modify instructional materials for diverse learning requirements
- Strong communication skills for collaborating with parents, colleagues, and support staff
Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction to elementary students, guiding their academic and social development
- Design and implement lesson plans that accommodate various learning styles and needs
- Frequently assess student progress and maintain accurate records in compliance with IEP goals
- Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student growth and independence
- Work collaboratively with classroom teachers, administrators, and related service providers
- Participate in IEP meetings and parent conferences as a vital member of the student's support team
