Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree, active Pharmacist license, and minimum 1+ years Pharmacist experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

A pharmacy professional is needed for an evening pharmacist role in a long-term care and mail order pharmacy environment. This position offers a 12-week contract with an opportunity to transition to permanent employment after three months. The role is based in Providence, RI, with a Monday through Friday schedule from 2:30 pm to 11:00 pm.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accept and dispense prescription medications accurately and efficiently.
  • Monitor patient medication compliance, address over-usage patterns, and ensure prescriptions are suitable and legal.
  • Maintain confidential and accurate patient and pharmacy records.
  • Counsel patients on medication usage, potential side effects, and answer inquiries.
  • Provide consultation on prescription and over-the-counter medications, including storage, dosage, side effects, and drug interactions.
  • Support patient health through services like smoking cessation programs, blood pressure measurements, and cholesterol management.
  • Teach patients proper handling of medical devices such as blood pressure monitors and glucose meters.
  • Compound medications, including preparing sterile solutions in accordance with regulations.
  • Supervise pharmacy staff, including technicians and clerks.
  • Maintain inventory of pharmaceutical and medical supplies.
  • Identify and communicate drug-related problems to physicians and healthcare practitioners effectively.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Valid Rhode Island pharmacy license is required.
  • General pharmacy experience is essential.
  • Experience in long-term care (LTC) settings is highly preferred.
