Bookkeeper & Accounting Specialist — Manufacturing


BBSI is recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Bookkeeper & Accounting Specialist to join their growing manufacturing operation in White City, Oregon.


This is a full-time, on-site opportunity reporting directly to the Controller. Our client is looking for someone who can take ownership of day-to-day accounting functions, maintain accurate financial records, support month-end and year-end close, and assist with accounting processes specific to a manufacturing environment.

Manufacturing accounting experience is strongly preferred. Candidates with experience in job costing, work-in-process (WIP), inventory accounting, cost accounting, or manufacturing ERP systems are highly encouraged to apply.


Compensation & Schedule

  • Salary: $62,400 annually
  • Full-time, on-site
  • Location: White City, Oregon
  • Reports to: Controller


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform day-to-day bookkeeping and general ledger accounting activities.
  • Process and reconcile accounts payable and accounts receivable.
  • Prepare customer invoices and maintain accurate customer accounting records.
  • Apply customer payments and research account discrepancies.
  • Perform bank, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Support payroll accounting and payroll liability reconciliation.
  • Prepare assigned month-end journal entries, schedules, and close workpapers.
  • Assist with monthly and year-end financial close.
  • Support WIP and job-cost accounting, including labor, materials, purchasing, receiving, travel, and other job-related costs.
  • Assist with manufacturing overhead and shop allocations and related accounting schedules.
  • Support inventory accounting and investigate material or system discrepancies.
  • Maintain fixed-asset and capital-expenditure schedules.
  • Reconcile accounting information between QuickBooks Online Advanced and the company’s manufacturing ERP system.
  • Review and reconcile Expensify/company-card activity.
  • Assist with financial reporting, budgeting, cash flow, and other Controller-related schedules as needed.
  • Maintain organized accounting records and supporting documentation.
  • Identify and investigate discrepancies and escalate unresolved or material issues to the Controller.
  • Work collaboratively with Production, Operations, Purchasing, Sales, and Administration to obtain information needed for accurate accounting.


Qualifications & Experience

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Demonstrated experience in bookkeeping or accounting.
  • Experience with general ledger accounting and month-end close.
  • Strong account reconciliation skills.
  • Experience with accounts payable and accounts receivable.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to research and resolve discrepancies.
  • Ability to manage recurring deadlines and work independently.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work across multiple accounting and operational systems.
  • A high level of confidentiality, integrity, and professional judgment.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with multiple departments.

  • Manufacturing accounting
  • Job costing
  • Work-in-process (WIP) accounting
  • Inventory accounting
  • Cost accounting
  • Manufacturing ERP systems
  • QuickBooks Online Advanced
  • Expensify or similar expense-management systems
  • Experience working directly with Production, Purchasing, Operations, or other manufacturing departments


Education

An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent relevant accounting experience will also be considered.
