Volt is immediately hiring a Senior Engineer in San Diego, CA. 

As a Sr. Engineer, you will:

  • 1st responder design support to new manufacturing operations evaluating non-conformances and timely hardware dispositions
  • Apply engineering expertise and mfg. process knowledge to judge severity of non-conformance versus drawing specifications (GD&T) and
    design requirements (consult peer SME, as needed)
  • Support mfg. and supply chain partners with quality improvements and corrective actions to prevent repeat non-conformances
  • Demonstrate sense of urgency and cross-functional teamwork at all times
  • Extensive collaboration with internal customers within manufacturing, operations, supply chain, and design engineering to address component quality, cost, and velocity. TPE engineers must be able to interpret functional design requirements, detailed engineering specifications, and manufacturing methods for a wide-range of component types including castings, forgings, machining, and
    fabrications.
  • Be a first responder to provide technical support for all new manufacturing operations.
  • Be the authoritative body for dispositioning discrepant material (MRB Non-conformances).
  • Drive process rigor for sustained long term manufacturing and quality improvements.

This is a full-time long-term, possible temp to hire opportunity! 

Schedule: Monday – Friday - 8am - 5pm, working onsite in San Diego. May have flexible to start the day earlier. 

The ideal candidate will have:

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering / Manufacturing Engineering  with 5 + years experience
  • Ability to lead & collaborate with teams of diverse skillset
  • Ability to read Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T ASME-Y 14.5M-1994)
  • Ability to read and interpret results from CMM, ATOS, and similar inspection reports.
  • Basic knowledge of Pro-E CREO, or similar CAD systems
  • Basic knowledge of machining and NDT inspection processes
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, project management skills, and leadership abilities are highly desirable.
  •  Experience with MRB activities
  • Basic knowledge of Turbomachinery Design, Manufacturing Technical Experience
  • Basic knowledge of mechanical design engineering methodologies
  • Basic knowledge of Manufacturing Processes for some or most processes involving: sand castings, forgings, sheet metal forming, precision machined components, plating/coating,
  • heat treatments, brazing & welding
  • Basic knowledge and experience with quality systems and processes such as: Root Cause & Corrective Action, Built-In Quality, etc.
  •  Experience in the review and disposition of discrepant material
     

Pay Rate: $65.00 - $67.00 per hour DOE
