Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree, active Pharmacist license, and minimum 1+ years Pharmacist experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

This position offers a unique opportunity for an experienced pharmacist to work in a long-term care (LTC) mail order pharmacy environment. The role requires evening shifts, Monday through Friday, from 2:30 pm to 11:00 pm, over a 12-week contract period with the potential for temp-to-hire status after three months.

Location: Pawtucket, Rhode Island
Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday
  • Evenings, 2:30 pm – 11:00 pm

Responsibilities:

  • Accurately accept and dispense prescription medications, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and patient safety.
  • Monitor patient medication usage to identify compliance issues and prevent overuse.
  • Maintain confidential patient records and properly manage pharmacy files in accordance with regulations.
  • Provide detailed counseling for patients regarding medication usage, potential side effects, and drug interactions.
  • Offer consultations on both prescription and non-prescription medications, including storage and dosage instructions.
  • Deliver additional patient services such as smoking cessation counseling, blood pressure and cholesterol monitoring.
  • Educate patients in the correct use of medical devices like blood pressure monitors and glucose meters.
  • Compound medications following sterile procedures for both internal and external uses.
  • Supervise pharmacy staff including pharmacy technicians and clerks, ensuring workflow efficiency.
  • Manage pharmaceutical and medical supply inventories and address drug-related issues by collaborating with healthcare providers.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Valid Rhode Island pharmacy license is required.
  • Proven experience as a pharmacist, ideally with some background in long-term care settings.
  • Strong attention to legal compliance and patient confidentiality.
  • Ability to supervise and mentor pharmacy staff.
