Special Education Teacher - Fredericksburg, Virginia

Step into a meaningful contract role supporting young learners in an elementary self-contained autism classroom. Key Responsibilities:

• Design and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to each student’s unique strengths and needs
• Deliver direct, standards-based instruction and provide ongoing behavioral support
• Employ evidence-based instructional approaches specifically for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder
• Integrate Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) and customized Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs)
• Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, including related service providers and families
• Supervise and mentor paraprofessionals within the classroom setting
• Monitor student progress, maintain thorough compliance documentation, and adjust strategies as needed
• Promote communication, social, and independent living skills through structured activities
• Establish and maintain a safe, engaging, and predictable classroom environment

Preferred Experience & Qualifications:

• Current or transferable Virginia Special Education Teaching License (or eligibility)
• Proven background in developing and implementing IEPs and navigating special education compliance
• Strong classroom management and experience with behavioral support strategies
• Effective teamwork with specialists, therapists, and families
• Experience teaching students with Autism Spectrum Disorder in self-contained settings is highly valued
• Familiarity with ABA, structured teaching, visual schedules, social stories, and alternative communication systems
• Crisis prevention or de-escalation training is a plus
