Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (Adult ACT)
Location: Norwich, NY
Job Type: Full-Time
Shifts: Days (Mon- Fri)
Setting: Outpatient
Position Summary:
The purpose of Adult ACT is to meet the needs of individuals who have not been well served by traditional service delivery approaches. Grounded in a recovery-oriented practice, ACT offers evidence-based treatment, rehabilitation, case management, and support services through a mobile, multidisciplinary behavioral health treatment team.
The PMHNP will work in collaboration with the Team Leader to oversee individual treatment plans and ensure the delivery of high-quality clinical services. This role involves providing psychiatric and medical assessments, treatment, clinical supervision, education, and training to the team.
Responsibilities:
Monitor individual treatment plans and staff delivery of clinical services.
Conduct psychiatric and medical assessments, along with providing treatment.
Provide clinical supervision, education, and training to the team members.
Offer psychopharmacology services related to the development, maintenance, and supervision of medications for psychiatric and medical purposes, including Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT), clozapine, and Long-Acting Injectables.
Apply your training and experience in prescribing buprenorphine as part of the treatment process.
Adhere to New York State (NYS) practice requirements and ensure all clinical activities comply with regulatory standards.
Practice in accordance with New York State (NYS) practice requirements.
Attend daily team meetings regularly to review client statuses, discuss treatment plans, and coordinate care among team members.
Rotating on-call responsibilities to assist individuals in crisis, providing immediate support and intervention as needed to ensure continuous care and safety.
Education:
Master's degree in Nursing (MSN) with a specialization in psychiatric/mental health. Certification as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) in psychiatric/mental health required
License to practice in the state of New York required
DEA License required
Completed 3600 hours of practice strongly preferred
Experience:
2 years' experience as a psychiatric nurse practitioner required.
Capacity to participate in the principles and practices of the inter-disciplinary team approach is preferred
Previous experience in prescribing psychotropic medications to child/adolescent population based upon multiple diagnoses required
Ability to perform psychiatric evaluations on children ages 10-21, diagnose according to the DSM-IV-TR, participate in and make recommendations to the treatment teams, initiate and prescribe medication treatment based on diagnoses and re-evaluate conditions and medications required
Proficiency in psychopharmacology is crucial, with a commitment to adhering to New York State practice requirements and regulatory standards is essential to ensure compliance and uphold the integrity of clinical activities required
Use of computers and telecommunications to input assessments and progress notes in the agency electronic health record required
Driver's License and ability to maintain insurability throughout employment required
