Job Description
Each day, you’ll help keep the NSP service territory safe and energized by crafting precise switching plans and coordinating clearances so field crews can work with confidence. In this onsite, 12‑month contract role, you’ll partner closely with the Control Center to translate maintenance schedules into executable switching requests that meet every safety tag and clearance requirement.
What a typical day looks like- Start with the upcoming maintenance and construction schedule to identify switching needs across the distribution system.
- Develop detailed switching requests and end‑to‑end switch plans that align with established procedures, safety tagging, and clearance protocols.
- Work hand‑in‑hand with the Control Center and operations teams to validate sequences and minimize customer impact.
- Route plans for review, incorporate feedback, obtain approvals, and schedule execution.
- Serve as the go‑to contact for Control Center personnel, answering questions and clarifying switching steps.
- Coordinate with Grid Operations, Outage Coordination, and other stakeholders to support safe, efficient system operations.
- 5+ years in electric utility field operations (e.g., Lineman, Troubleman, or similar).
- Hands‑on experience within a Distribution System Operating Group (DSOG) or comparable utility operations environment.
- Proven support of distribution operations and outage/switching coordination.
- Familiarity with Oracle NMS.
- Working knowledge of switching procedures, safety tagging, clearances, and grid operations.
- Foundational understanding of engineering/electrical theory.

- Estimated pay range: $70.00/hr–$75.00/hr (based on experience, qualifications, and skills)
