Regional Geriatric Physician – Long-Term Care
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Regional Geriatric Physician to provide high-quality, hands-on medical care to residents across a group of three geriatric and long-term care facilities in the PA area.
This is primarily a clinical physician position, ideal for a doctor with experience caring for elderly patients in nursing homes, skilled nursing facilities, long-term care, or geriatric settings.
The physician will visit one facility per day, rotating among the two/three locations. The facilities are all within a close driving radius, allowing for a predictable schedule with minimal travel time.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct medical care to elderly residents in long-term care and skilled nursing facilities
- Conduct patient evaluations, follow-up visits, and routine medical assessments
- Diagnose and treat acute and chronic medical conditions
- Develop and manage individualized treatment plans
- Review medications and make appropriate adjustments
- Monitor changes in patients' medical conditions and coordinate appropriate treatment
- Work closely with nursing staff, administrators, families, and other healthcare professionals
- Respond to complex medical issues and provide clinical guidance when needed
- Participate in care planning and interdisciplinary team meetings
- Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation
- Help ensure high-quality, patient-centered care and compliance with applicable healthcare regulations
- Coordinate with specialists, hospitals, and other providers when necessary
Schedule & Work Arrangement
- Full-time clinical physician position
- One facility visit per day, rotating among three facilities
- Facilities are located within a close driving radius of one another
- Regular daytime schedule
- Predictable schedule designed to provide a strong work-life balance
- Local travel between facilities required
Qualifications
- MD or DO with an active and unrestricted medical license
- Experience providing medical care to geriatric, long-term care, skilled nursing, or nursing home patients
- Previous nursing home or long-term care physician experience strongly preferred
- Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Comfortable working collaboratively with nursing and interdisciplinary care teams
- Ability and willingness to travel by car between facilities
- Board certification in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, or Geriatrics preferred
