Job Description

The Shipping Coordinator is responsible for managing the logistics related to the shipping, receiving, and exporting of goods. This role ensures that products are handled efficiently and in compliance with regulations, from receipt through to delivery. The coordinator will manage inventory, oversee shipping and receiving processes, and handle export documentation and compliance.

 

Key Responsibilities

·         Uphold the company values, vision, and mission.

·         Processes the shipment of finished products to customers and distribution centers, ensuring timely and accurate delivery.

·         Process proper packaging of items to customers specifications including etching of materials, hot plastic dip, individual wrapping, etc.

·         Ensure all outgoing shipments possess a work order packing slip.

·         Manage the receiving process for incoming materials and products, inspecting shipments for quality and accuracy.

·         Coordinate with carriers and transportation providers to schedule pickups and deliveries.

·         Ensure that all shipments are properly documented and tracked.

·         Prepare and process export documentation, including bills of lading, commercial invoices, and certificates of origin.

·         Ensure compliance with international shipping regulations and customs requirements.

·         Liaise with customs brokers and government agencies to facilitate smooth customs clearance.

·         Maintain accurate inventory records, including tracking stock levels and conducting regular audits.

·         Coordinate with production and procurement teams to manage inventory flow and prevent stockouts or overstock situations.

·         Ensure all shipping and receiving documents are accurately completed and filed.

·         Maintain compliance with company policies, industry standards, and legal regulations related to shipping, receiving, and exporting.

·         Identify areas for improvement in shipping, receiving, and exporting processes to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.

·         Implement best practices and new technologies to optimize logistics operations.

·         Address and resolve any issues related to shipping discrepancies, damaged goods, or lost shipments.

·         Communicate effectively with customers, suppliers, and internal teams to resolve issues and improve processes.

·         Notifies supervisor of major discrepancies, over-shipments, or substitutions.

·         Completes information on damage claims for in-transit damage.

·         Transports materials on shipping dock with a hand truck or other vehicle as needed.

·         Loads trucks using a forklift.

·         Performs other clerical duties.

·         Once trained in Dieco shipping and receiving, the employee will cross-train on the Ring system to provide additional support as needed.

 

            Education:

·         High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

·         State motor vehicle operators permit for operation of forklift highly preferred.

 

            Skills Required:

·         Ability to accurately sort, count, and verify items received.

·         Basic understanding of railway, dock, and warehouse procedures.

·         Good organizational skills and attention to detail.

·         Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and/or inventory software to maintain records, input data, and create reports.

 

Work Environment:

Manufacturing floor environments

Controlled temperature environments

 

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to traverse distribution warehouse and access a variety of storage spaces and shelving units by stretching, squatting, and reaching.

Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds at a time.

Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions and temperatures in the warehouse and on the loading dock.

 

Expected Hours of Work
This is a Full-Time hourly position required to work Monday through Friday, with occasional weekends.
