Physical Therapist Position Description

This position offers a full-time schedule from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with no weekend or on-call requirements. The dress code includes khaki pants and a white polo.

Summary

The Physical Therapist provides comprehensive physical therapy services to patients, including assessment, treatment plan development, implementation, follow-up, and discharge planning. The role actively contributes to clinical operations, program development, and performance improvement activities while supervising Physical Therapy Assistant students, Licensed Physical Therapy Assistants, Rehab Technicians, and Volunteers.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough diagnostic evaluations to assess physical and cognitive abilities of both inpatients and outpatients, considering their diagnoses and age-specific needs.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with patients and families, incorporating measurable goals and methods for achievement.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in accordance with established practices, including initial evaluations, daily and weekly progress notes, and discharge summaries.
  • Engage in patient care conferences, family meetings, in-service training programs, and departmental meetings.
  • Provide guidance and education regarding patient evaluations, care, and treatment to patients, families, and relevant stakeholders. Ensure timely discharge planning and effective education.
  • Support the coordination and supervision of Physical Therapy and Physical Therapy Assistant student programs, as well as volunteer programs.
  • Participate in clinical operations including onboarding new staff and managing patient scheduling to ensure quality coverage and supervision.
  • Align with the organization’s core values and participate actively in performance improvement initiatives.
  • Strive for productivity in departmental responsibilities and maintain awareness of community resources for effective referral processes.
  • Identify and pursue educational opportunities for self-development, department growth, and community outreach. Engage in research activities as appropriate.
  • Exhibit competence in performing patient care responsibilities, ensuring that practices meet the specific developmental and age-related needs of patients.
  • Adapt assessment and treatment methods to cater to the unique needs of each patient, considering their physical, psychological, cultural, and developmental backgrounds.
  • Foster positive professional relationships with medical staff, physicians, and referral sources.
  • Carry out other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's, Master's, or entry-level Doctorate in Physical Therapy from an accredited institution is required.
  • Certifications: Current licensure as a Physical Therapist in New Mexico and a BLS certification from AHA are mandatory.
  • Experience: No prior experience is required.
  • Additional: Must successfully complete the pre-employment/post-job offer health screening and annual screenings as part of employment.
Work Schedule

This position requires working 5 days a week with an 8-hour shift.
