Physical Therapist Job Summary
The Physical Therapist provides comprehensive physical therapy services to patients referred for treatment. This includes assessing patients, developing and implementing treatment plans, and conducting follow-up and discharge planning. The therapist actively participates in clinical operations, program development, and performance improvement activities while supervising physical therapy staff and students.
Responsibilities- Conducts thorough diagnostic evaluations to assess the physical and cognitive abilities of inpatients and outpatients, considering their specific diagnoses and age-related needs.
- Develops and implements individualized treatment plans in collaboration with patients and their families, ensuring that goals are measurable and methods are established to achieve them.
- Maintains compliance with documentation requirements, including initial patient evaluations, daily and weekly progress notes, and discharge summaries.
- Participates in patient care conferences and meetings with families and other healthcare providers.
- Provides counseling and education to patients and families regarding evaluation, care, and treatment processes.
- Assists with the coordination and supervision of student programs for Physical Therapy and Physical Therapy Assistants, as well as volunteer initiatives.
- Contributes to departmental operations, including the orientation of new staff and patient scheduling to ensure quality care and staff oversight.
- Demonstrates commitment to the organization’s values and participates in performance improvement activities.
- Identifies community resources for appropriate referrals and builds professional relationships with healthcare colleagues and providers.
- Engages in self-education, departmental training, and community educational opportunities.
- Adapts assessment and treatment methods to meet the unique needs of each patient based on their physical, psychological, and cultural backgrounds.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s, Master’s, or entry-level Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree from an accredited institution is required.
- Current New Mexico Physical Therapist licensure is required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is required.
- Knowledge of modalities and equipment used in physical therapy as outlined by relevant regulatory bodies.
- No prior experience is required; new graduates will be considered.
This position requires full-time availability over five days per week with daily shifts of eight hours.
Dress CodeThe dress code consists of khaki pants and a white polo shirt.
