Role Summary
Is seeking a Small Tools Coordinator to manage the tracking, organization, maintenance, and distribution of small tools and equipment across all projects. This role is critical to keeping crews productive, minimizing loss, and ensuring the right tools are in the right place at the right time.
This is a hands-on, operational role that sits at the intersection of field crews, shop operations, and project teams.
Key Responsibilities
Tool Management & Inventory

  • Maintain a complete and accurate inventory of all small tools (hand tools, power tools, lasers, compact equipment, etc.)
  • Implement and manage a check-in / check-out system for tools issued to crews and employees
  • Track tool locations across yard, trucks, and active job sites
  • Perform regular audits to minimize loss, theft, and misplacement

Distribution & Logistics

  • Coordinate tool allocation based on project needs, schedules, and crew requirements
  • Prepare and stage tools for upcoming jobs and mobilizations
  • Receive, tag, and log new tools into the system
  • Coordinate transfers of tools between job sites

Maintenance & Repairs

  • Inspect tools for condition, safety, and functionality
  • Coordinate repairs, servicing, and warranty claims
  • Remove damaged or unsafe tools from service immediately
  • Maintain maintenance logs and service schedules

Systems & Process Improvement

  • Establish and improve systems for tracking (barcoding, software, or manual logs)
  • Develop standard processes for tool requests, returns, and accountability
  • Work with leadership to reduce tool spend and improve utilization

Field & Team Support

  • Communicate regularly with superintendents, foremen, and project managers on tool needs
  • Respond quickly to urgent field requests
  • Support crews with basic tool knowledge and troubleshooting

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in construction, equipment management, or a similar role
  • Strong understanding of construction tools (civil and/or concrete preferred)
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail
  • Comfortable with inventory systems, spreadsheets, or tracking software
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced, field-driven environment
  • Strong communication and accountability mindset
